From the perspective of the UK tournament scene I'd say that, and I believe results back this up, that the eldar are one of the weaker lists.

When everything goes right that they can be devastating - the warlock+wave serpent rolling assault army for instance, but over the course of a tourney it will go badly wrong at least once - the 2s that a lot of units need will not materialise especially with the absolute need to retain or the paper thin armour will fail or the assaults will backfire.

Added to this is that when things go wrong it isn't really possible to dig in and try and hold on for a draw as you have neither the numbers nor the armour saves

What I'm saying is, from my perspective and experiences, I don't see *how* such a list can sweep other lists with ease.

It was probably Australia's 2nd Epic tournament in ~10 years

As players learn the intricacies of the rules more, play to a tournament level, and a metagame starts to establish, these type of lists should not see a podium. Just give it a bit of time, that's all.

As it was, there was still confusion with the rules.

Thanks for posting the results Floppy!

I intend to be there next year with my AMTL Skitarii. At least that gives me plenty of time to paint them all :)
I might even be able to convince my Epic-playing mates to come along too, so we can have a triumvirate representing South Oz!
Hmmm... Adelaide-Canberra road trip could be fun. "I spy with my little eye, something beginning with 'arr'." - "It's road again isn't it?"  :_(

What was the terrain like, which armies did it face, etc?  How does The Baron do it?  What's his play style and tactics that appear to be unbeatable?

Chroma the game I had against the Baron was a very good game. I was in command of the game having with a clear advantage over his force until it all went pear shaped and I charged the Phantom at the double to shoot at the Revenants which was a silly thing to do since they had activated and the Falcons near them had not activated, but I want to land the killing blow onto his force. The Phantom did little to the Revenants before the Falcons removed four DC of the Phantom and the holofield   This was the turn point of the game that help the Baron back into the game.

Yes - that's exactly what happened - you were in total control of the game  ;-)

(Actually he really was - i still don't understand why he shot the Revenants not the Falcons.....)

As for my strategy in general.....

The two Flacons, scorpions and Revenant formed a central Battlegroup, one guardian host covered the blitzkrieg objective on overwatch and the second came through the gate to provide cover once the armoured formation took a central position from which to jump-shoot-jump usually from behind cover.  The Aspects and Vampire formed a 'Threat in Being' and usually came in late for the Blitzkrieg or whatever else was on offer.

It helped that I didn't face ANY barrage templates during the tournamnet which allowed me to huddle the formations tightly and in good cover.

Overall no really significant 'brainy moments'

Revenant are definitely awesome.  they attract way more attention then they deserve and everyone seems very scared of them.

Cheers

Well with a 70cm double move and shoot plus multiple MW shooting at 45cm, Holofields and RA + 6BMs to break them and usually BTS, I'm not very surprised.   People are scared of them for good reason. :ooooo:

No reinforced armour on the Revenents - you fail the 3+ and you're toast.......

Which were the other 3 and what years?

Were they National events or just club events?

Haha o wow. Yeah it's true I can't win no matter what I do, but man without making excuses I roll a $%^&load of ones and 2's- and not in a good, activation kind of way. Assault marines were getting massacred because they werent hitting.

There were two complete Fantatics in 06 and 07, Last year there was a event held at Monday Knights, and in 06 there was the 1st and only Australian Epic championships...

I remember when Conquest held the Epic Midnight madness games.

I really wished I played Epic back then.

I was a veteran of those Epic-a-thon games. It really knocked the crap out of you playing for 12+ hours at one go with no sleep since the day before  I'd go in straight after work and start playing.

As there is no 'Jealous' emoticon, I will reserve the use of this one just for this case
