The scary / nice thing about this is the size of the investment that this obviously entails.

In the National Army Museum, London and the Royal Armouries museum, Leeds (both UK) there are two models of the battle of Waterloo made by William Siborne. The 'main model' was built over eight years at a cost of £3000, while the 'New model' is slightly smaller, and presumably cost slightly less. Ignoring the quality of the painting (which would probably fall below Primarch's standards) if we assume that the cost of the two models was £5000, this would represent at least £220,000 in today's money, or ~$308,000.

So, the other question is whether Primarch will charge admission to see his collection once it is painted, and also to which museum he proposes to sell this collection for viewing by the wider public :D

Hi!

What I want to accomplish is definitely one of those "lifetime" goals for a hobby. The only difference is that i don't want it to take a lifetime. ;)

This started in 2013 when I returned to active posting on these forums after a 7 year hiatus. I saw many "interesting" things transpire in my absence and went about seeing the viability of incorporating them into my goals.

The heavy lift is the "accumulation phase". It is staggering in scope and time it takes to amass the numbers involved. In nearly 3 years only two armies (totaling about 7 "themes") can be considered "complete". It doesn't help that I constantly move the goal posts and make it "bigger".

However the second half of 2015 and this year have shown a spike in the accumulation phase. I fully expect that by years end 4 armies (totaling over 15 themes) will be complete. I will be on pace to finalize the accumulation phase by summer 2018.

Compared to that phase the painting phase is a easy lift. There seems to be a good amount of interested parties, of which I can use everyone (I haven't turned anyone away yet). Its more a matter of queuing them up as each themes accumulation phase has ended.

As to their storing. That is turning out to be quite another challenge. I already have 5 large KR cases. Those are literally a drop in the bucket. So the installation of glass curios in a large room may be the way to go.

So you are right it may indeed look like a museum" in the end. But it will be free of charge. ;)

I'm not even getting into terrain at the moment. That will be its own project. ;)

This sounds very interesting indeed ^_^

I remembered once seeing someone painting 10mm Skaven's as a commission. Found the company and it seems they also do 6mm to a (in my opinion) very nice standard. Might these guys be of interest to the project?

Cheers :)

Hi!

To be fair I'm being purposely obtuse with some of the pictures. ;)

The boxes in two are full, very full. ;)

Number 5, that is only ONE along the same vein as several others. ;D

So yeah, "impressive". :P

I'm just glad that someone's using the same drawers as I am for my bins of shamefully unassembled epic.

They say "Great minds think alike".
Others have been known to add "Fools seldom differ".

Your choice . . .

:D
