Hi there. Welcome to the latest Forge World newsletter.

The big news in this issue of our newsletter is all about a big tank. To be honest, Forge World has always been heavily involved with making big tanks but this time we outdid ourselves.

In the summer of 2003, Paul our website guy, was ?working? on the internet. He called a few of us across to see this Russian website that had photos and video clips of very large radio controlled tanks. ?Wow, that?s cool? seemed to be the overall opinion throughout the office. It was noted that the owners of this website, who make and sell these large models, said if you couldn?t see the tank you wanted they would be happy to build it for you. Well, we just had to ask them didn?t we?
Paul sent off an email to Alex in Volgograd asking if they would consider making a science fiction style tank? Yes, came the fairly swift reply. Talk to our partner in the UK, a chap called Mark. A few weeks later Paul, Tony and Warwick went to meet Mark at a large militaria show in the south of England and Alex happened to be there too. Everyone had a good chat and after seeing what we were getting more and more interested in making, Alex and Mark said they thought they could do it.
Do what? What are you going on about? A Baneblade of course. Forge World is the very proud owner of a 1/6th scale radio controlled Mars pattern Baneblade.
The following link will show you the very same photos we received from Alex in Russia as this mighty project carried on through the autumn and winter of 2003, all the way up till Paul and I went down to collect our new toy from Mark in early August! http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/rcbaneblade.htm

We first displayed our 1/6th scale Baneblade at Games Day UK at the beginning of October. We laid out a small arena for it to rumble around in, mocked up some fuel drums for it to run over and crush and a large ramp for it to clamber up and over. Each time we fired up the ?engine?, a hugely loud sound processor, a massive crowd rushed over, completely surrounding the display area five or six people deep.

We hope to be able to take our Baneblade to some of the other Games Days that Forge World attend around the world, so watch our Events section of our website early next year for information on where you?ll be able to see it.

This Sunday, November 7th, is the first Veterans Open Day at Warhammer World in Nottingham. Forge World will be there with a display of some of our newest and most exciting models. You will be able to place mail orders for Forge World models at the Open Day, but if you want to be able to take them away on the day you will need to call us before 2pm UK time on Friday November 5th to place a reservation order.

Two weeks later, quite a few of us are ?working? at Scale Modelworld 2004 over in Telford on Saturday and Sunday November 20th and 21st. http://www.ipms-uk.co.uk/scalemodelworld/index.htm Forge World can announce that the organisers of the event are letting us take our giant Baneblade! Sadly it will not be allowed to rumble around the halls, but it will be there in all its glory, lights blazing and turrets waggling, for you to photograph and get a good close look at.

We shall have a range of our models available to buy over the weekend, but if you want to be sure that we?ll have exactly what you want, please get in touch with us and place a reservation order.

A few other snippets of news for you. There are new updates to the rules for the huge Tyranid Hierophant Biotitan, Tau Tetra and Tau Piranha available to download at http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/downloads40k.htm Also new on that section of our website is a Q&A sheet for Imperial Armour Volume 2.

I think that?s all for today folks, but you can look forward to a whole heap of new Forge World Imperial Guard models in the near future as well as an enormous Warhammer two-headed Chaos Dragon from the desk of Daniel Cockersell!
Thx,

Ewen Little,
Forge World.

I have some pictures on my blog

Big, yes, and higher than the Forge World model would suggest. Reason? Well, I guess the builders noticed that the track arrangement in the 40k scale Baneblade is impossible; the tracks would go right across the side access hatch.

Still, that model makes me drool. And the website of those guys has a 1/6th scale Maus for only ?3500 or something...  :O  Imagine driving something like that through your neighbor's hedge after a heated debate.

1/6th scale Maus?! I'd bet there were real tanks smaller than that! :p

Not quite, but it's still an awesome beast! To quote the website:

The 1/6th model weights in at nearly 150kgs, and is powered by 2 x 250w 12v motors. It is slow, not very mobile, and needs plenty of room!, but is awesome to see running. Loud, big, heavy, almost a real Tank! Size is 59" long, 72" with gun, 23" tall, and 23" wide.

The website is here. Don't forget to check the galleries but remember to move your keyboard to a safe deistance to avoid damage caused by excessive drooling...

If only I had ?3600 + shipping to spare...  :{  :{  :{

Hi!

I'm not about to complain about FW anymore. Not when they will perhaps be the ONLY source of epic minis. They gave us the ONLY Tau force and more models from several armies. It seems profitable enough for them to do more. Even if slowly, its something.

So, jesting aside. FW has my support.

Perhaps hell is freezing over since I have supported GW or any of its "allies" in ages..... :;):

I just intercepted a transmission from downstairs. It semd to be about the ol' Devil complaining about broken heater...  :p

Seriously, I wish they did some of those nice new Tau vehicles in Epic scale.

Piett> I wouldn't put it past them; how long did it take them to do the drone turrets in Epic scale? I figure you're looking at that sort of a wait.
