Hey guys,
If any of you masterful gents have spare time would it be possible to work up the proposed NetEA dark eldar 2017 changes? It would allow the playtesters an easy way to break the list and create their playtest lists?
Thanks for you consideration. Oh and happy to send someone the excel spreadsheet if that makes it easier.

just a quick question re: the dark elder, as it's quite a significant change from the current approved NetEA variant, I assume it will need to go through the approvals process, to this end would you prefer I make a separate 'Dark Eldar 2017' version alongside the existing list so people can continue to use both?

it makes sense to me to do it that way

I think that it should be labeled as Trial or Test otherwise people are going to be thinking it's the current latest final version, no?

Go with "Dark Eldar 2017" as separate list please. I did the same in Heresy pages marking olders version as "(old)". I did it because the changes between 0.8.3 and 0.8.6 Legion Astartes lists were extensive and it didn't "feel right" to take away older version in one swop.

He didn't respond, I sent him a PM, so if you know the guy and can reach to him that would be helpful.

Ok, my plan for the next pull request is:
1) Next version of Solar Auxilla for HH,
2) Necron fleet list for BFG as a PoC,
3) Implement latest changes to Legion Astartes HH,
4) Also I am thinking of adding a Badab War "generic chapter" army list.

What do you guys think of 2 and 4?

Also I took a peek into war/js/*.js files and there are three topics:
1) The "formation limit per # of points" seems to have an issue, i.e. the first formation of given type is not taken into account. I will investigate that later and fix if needed.
2) Allies. I wonder if there a better of doing allies. At the moment the list creator is forced to hard wire
allied list into the basic list, which tedious. Have you thought about this? Anyone considered "list inclusion mechanism"? I guess it must be difficult due to "reuse" of ids.
3) Formation stats in print. At first it seems daunting because that would put a lot of work on reweriting a lot of text and also would have complicated a lot existing json files. And the I thought that it might be possible to create a base of unit stats in separate json files. e.g.
Code:
{"id":505, "name":"Landing Craft",   "pts":350},
would be enriched with optional attribute "stats"
Code:
{"id":505, "name":"Landing Craft",   "pts":350, "stats":"landing_craft"}
,
and "landing_craft" stats would be kept in another generic stats.js. Possibly one per "supplement".

What do you think?

Sorry should have been clearer. Yeah it would be good if you labelled it playtest or some such and kept the current list there as well. Thanks heaps!

Has there been any thought of creating a mobile app, or a more mobile-friendly browser version? Or changing to work-friendly colors? I'd happily pay to use something like that...

Here's my plan for armyforge...

* rewrite the generator (maintaining compatibility with existing lists) - mainly to make it mobile friendly

* split out the app and lists into separate projects (so one repo for the armyforge code, and one for each supported system); eventually this could become a decentralized eco-system of sites using a common list format and engine

* introduce a stats file to compliment the army structure (similar to freefall's suggestion)

Which one to do first though...?

@freefall i think creating a BFG subsection of the current site would be the best thing to do now

@c109 yes to mobile friendly and skins; no to having to pay for it :D

Excellent! If feature requests are possible, could you add a preprocessor that that some form of comments can be used in the JSON files?

That's impressive! I think rewriting the generator makes the most sense as a first step, since it buys you a lot of time on the app. It wouldn't help wifi-only tablet users, but we all have phones as well and we'd be able to write our lists through a browser most of the time.

My not-really-important feature request is to click (or tap) and drag formations to re-order them.

Also, given that (as far as I've looked at the code side) it's 'just' Javascript and HTML, it should be fairly easy to add a manifest file so that the whole thing can be bookmarked on mobile devices to be used offline.
