its not regeneratey enough and does nothing compared to the void shields to improve survivability. it is essentially "half the void shield rule, except that you dont get the protection of the initial shields, or the ability to regenerate them quickly with a marshal action"

all this (plus the DC reductions) will result in very cheap biotitans, which may not be a concern in the regular list (although it should be) but will completely destroy any attempt at a balanced biotitan list. the single biggest concern with the old draconis list, was that you could flood the table with cheap, fast, TK CC attacks. now you've got something that will force even cheaper (and thus, even more TK attacks) while further discouraging any other playstyle. you are, essentially, going backwards.

Obviously playtesting will show where the bio-titans come out point-wise but I don't think they'll be overly cheap. The NetEA bio-titans are better stat-wise than the EpicUK ones and those are at 300 for the smaller and 500 for the bigger.

Worrying about a bio-titan list at the moment is a little premature. The rule is simple and enough people seem to be game for it so let's test it out.

as someone who has essentially just finished writing (and in the process of building) a bio-titan list, it doesnt seem premature to me :/

imagine, if you prefer, an imperial list, where titans do not come with void shields, can only get them in the end phase of the turn once every turn and only if the titan was damaged (but not killed) during that turn. oh, and the void shields do not prevent blast markers or titan killer weaponry in any way.

But the void shield does get a 4+RA save.

Since when? Because exactly THAT is discussed as a special rule for the AMTL list as there is no half-strength for WE formations.

No it isn't, the discussion there was VPs per DC. Remaining DC has always been used to determine whether a WE is over half strength which, in turn, affects VPs.

6.1.7, section on Tie Breakers:

"For the purposes of this rule, a formation's 'strength' is equal to the number of units in the formation plus the (remaining) damage capacity of any war engines"

In other words, 1/2 DC does matter for war engines, so the timing of regeneration is important.
