Existing Vituperator models could be used as Harridans and existing Harridan models could be used for Harpys.

Or as mentioned, as Harridans with a synapse symbiote. Hell, we could even call that a Vituperator in the fluff text :)

Agreed with the two above posts, either is a good solution.

An alternative to Meiotic spores could also be an AA attack on a spore producing structure (capillary tower, nest etc)

Having looked a bit more at the Vituperator as it stands now, it is considerably different to the Harridan. We have two potential options.
1) Modelling Harpies and Harridans to the existing metal Harridan and rare FW Harridan. Scratchbuilt existing Vituperator models would be downgraded to Harridans, and Harridans would go down to Harpies.
2) The Vituperator is a named variation of the Harridan with synapse symbiote.
Another option that may be viable is to retain the Vituperator as a separate unit that would essentially be the spacecraft insertion version of the Harridan. No bigger in size (to fit accepted background) but with planetfall to use in conjunction with a hiveship and perhaps having a better save to represent the greater requirements of a space going creature.

Something along the lines of
WE, 35cm, 4+, 5+, 5+, DC3, Fearless, RA, Skimmer, Transport (4 inf/LV), Synapse, Planetfall, Leader
Large Scything Talons +1A (MW)
Large Spore pods 4BP (Disrupt, 1 shot)

The transported units would be things like gaunts, raveners, Genestealers and the bio/pyrovores.

Mycetic Spore

These are going to be left out for the time being. After I post the v10 army list I'll have these along with a Brood Nest in a "trial rules" thread. Essentially, they're there to be tested to see if we'll include them.

Ripper Swarms

These guys have been relegated to a weapon.

Meiotic Spore

I gave them scout, expendable, CC6+ and removed the notes about marching/contesting.

Vituperator

Pretty much a tougher harridan now with synapse and planetfall.

Hive Ship

As with the Mycetic Spores this has been removed for now. My intent is to abstract it out with the rule for the spore pods.

Synapse Node

This is staying for now, I just gave it some AA and a spawn booster. If the Brood Nest (wraithgate) rule works out I think this will go.

Vitagon

Arkturas I went with 25cm Tunneler for this guy. Let me know if everything else is right:

Code:
WE   25cm   5+   3+   5+   Damage Capacity: 5, Fearless, Regeneration, Reinforced Armour, Tunneler
Pyro-Acid Spray   15cm   3BP   Forward, Ignore Cover
2x Gigantic Scything Talons   (base contact)   Assault Weapons   Extra Attack (+1), Titan-killer (D3)

Critical Hit Effect: Roll 1D6. On a 1 the unit loses 1 DC and all units within 5cm take a hit on a 6+. On a 2-5 the unit loses 1 DC. On a 6 the unit loses 2 DC.

Call the Synapse Node AA "Spore Chimneys".

Meiotic Spores need a special note that they count as Expendable even though there are no non-Expendable units in the formation.

Is there anything beyond preference driving the AA rename?

Also, on the second note that would make breaking them nearly impossible except by assault.

Then why make them expendable at all? It does nothing at all currently. So what if they're harder to break; a bunch of mindless floating bombs should be hard to break.

For the AA name, it's because I see the "node" as a collection of 'nid structures, so a spore chimney makes sense as an AA element for it, rather than meiotic spores which are their own unit.

If they're upgrades to a formation expendable would be utilized. I'd rather not add in another little special note like this given that we just got rid of one for them. Currently only the Venomthrope has one and that was an effort to differentiate it from just another CC beast.

On the naming, call it what you like as with the fleshborer/flamspurt and venom cannon/deathspitters. It's nothing to worry about.

If you don't give them that note, a seperate formation of them will be utterly, utterly useless. Given that they're already considered well below par, I really don't think that's a good idea.
