The first Storm Serpent is finished. Second one next :) the Eldar may even get a game on Saturday, I've been promised a game of Epic at our gaming club. Haven't actually used them yet so will be interesting to see how they play.

Very nice, yellow over black... that gets me every time i see you update this thread. You sir are crazy. GL in your game, quick battle report rundown would be nice... but you know i like pictures especially when painted armies are involved.

I have always found those to be two of the hardest colours to paint. It is tough to highlight black without making it to grey- you have nailed it. And I love that depp yellow you have achieved with nicely smoothly blended highlights.

Good luck with game- hope they play as well as they look.

Cheers

James

The game went fairly well :) I forgot to bring my box of Epic/AI planes so I had to make a list without any air support, and my opponent brought 2 units of planes, so they caused me problems. On the other hand, assaulting through webway portals is awesome - Shining Spears with Autarch wiped out a Land Raider formation, and my BTS (Guardian host with Wraithguard/lords) annihilated his BTS in a single round of assault, both out of Storm Serpents. Game ended after turn 3, 2-1 to the Eldar, BTS and TSNP.

Which leads me onto a question for you all - how do you transport your Epic army? I used a makeshift box with bubblewrap, but it didn't work too well and a couple of models got chipped :( I'm tempted to get a KR Multicase - plenty of room and lots of foam to play with and cut slots into.

mine's in a cardboard box with foam inserts that someone made, but when I get the time(!) I'm going to be getting a hard case of some sort and lining the bottom with sheet steel from Home Depot ($5 or so for a pretty big piece), then sticking magnets into the bases of all my figures. I got the idea from other peeps on here that have already done it - perhaps ask in a separate thread to get more ideas?

oh, and yeah, an amped up guardian fm assaulting out of a gate is a thing to behold, although your opponents will soon figure out that they need to destroy your stormserpents as soon as they can!

KR cases … If you get them, please do a review from our (6mm) stand point.

I use KR multicases. Got 2 of the card ones, keep my figs good and safe for general moving and have also protected them during some not so gentle moves between various houses. I use a mix of the thinner 6mm trays (normal infantry and rhino size vehicles), with some of the regular depth trays (for tall/spiky infantry and larger vehicles) and a pair of pick-and-pluck trays (for odd size chaos daemon engines and the like).

I plan on grabbing a couple of KR multicases, all the guys I regularly play use them and are quite chuffed, you can probably fit 8k into one of the standard cases

I picked up the KR Multicase yesterday and it's now full of Epic goodness :) the ones our FLGS stocks are the half-and-half ones, pluck foam on one side and 3 trays with slots on the other. The pluck foam is loaded up with Titans, with spaces for the Phantom I haven't done yet, as well as a couple of others besides the Revenants, Warhounds, Warlords and Reaver I managed to fit into it too. The slots are generally a bit large for Epic models individually, but 8 stands of infantry fit nicely into a single slot. Also cutting up some spare foam from blister packs has given me dividers for the slots which means I can fit two normal size tanks into one slot. As kyussinchains says, 8k would happily fit - in fact taking the Titans into account, there is over 8k in the case already, and room to spare.

And we're done for this month. :)

I'm starting to get to the end of the Eldar models - it's mostly a few units of infantry to tidy up, some support weapons, a couple of Eldar Knights that I dug out of a friend's bits box (he was aware of this!), and things like that. But for next month, there's the Phantom Titan... ;D

Great SHTs and a nice glow on that avatar.

Looking forward to seeing where you go with the phantom.

Been painting up some Epic scenery: (courtesy of firestorm40k)

Also, here's the Phantom Titan for this month in its current state:

I re-posed the Phantom a while ago as an aborted entry into a painting competition - the idea was to have it drawing back to punt an Imperial tank into orbit :) I may still do this...

Well, it's been very quiet here. I've been away on holiday, and working on Warmachine stuff too, but the Phantom is finally coming along. Here's a WIP shot:

No wings yet, and there will be more details on the base, but doing ok so far. I should complete on time if all goes well.
