Finally a day dry enough to prime the rest of the force! And of course, a little progress:

We frequently play without mechs and do a fine job of it. To a certain gamer it sometimes plays BETTER without mechs because of the general equivalency between mechs and conventional units on a cost basis, since Command resources can buff a well-organized conventional force very effectively.

I don’t know yet. If I take it to the club, it will either be Horizon Wars or Samurai Robits Battle Royale. If I solitaire it, it may be Mekton Z: The Movie with some culled out infantry rules, or perhaps the old Heavy Gear 2E rules with some custom weaponry.

I couldn’t say why but the past few days as I’ve been working on my comics (and my Vanguard Marine Legion, around the edges) my brain has turned to doing something in an anime style. Is it the tv I’m watching while I sketch? Is it the heap of unbuilt DP9 Mecha from years past, mocking me from my she...

Thanks for the tips on the bases! Crackle paint falling off has been the thing keeping me from using it more!

There you have it! Clear as mud, huh? Suffice it to say there is no "right" way. GM and I are getting fine results using different techniques (I'm a HUGE fan of his minis, by the way!), so you really need to just dive in and start trying things!

First "Reaver" proxy at 3mm scale - a preview Dreadnought Stalker from Vanguard, leading off the Legio Ultor. Green, Ivory and Gold, Loyalist colors, were my choice for this, mainly because they're all very difficult colors I wanted to get better with. Plus their home planet, I decided, is...

My advice is a #1 brush, and three colors: a dark navy blue for a base color, a bright or "true" blue for the middle tones, and then a light "sky" blue for the highlights. The Vanguard minis have enough detail that they're pretty forgiving, but I don't recommend drybrushing or a ...

I'm trying to decide whether or not to do a full Aquilae army with desert camouflage. I have to admit that, in spite of my oaths to the contrary, it's actually pretty tempting.

3mm scale sci fi buildings would be awesome and great! I endorse them entirely! And just to note: I consider the past year's Modular Cybertank to be a 3mm scale advance release! Can't wait to see these NCE guys in metal to match!

So I'm taking on some unfinished game projects as part of a New Year's resolution. This one haunted me, the unfinished hull of a BOLO taunting me from my painting table for so many months. But no more! The lovely BOLO from Microworld Games is now complete, and ready to kick some serious Zaftran ass!...

Thanks, guys! I'm already working on some British forces with armored hovercraft and powered armor, and PAC troops with field guns and some defensive works - I'm taking inspiration from what I have in my lead stock and seeing what I can do without buying new forces. The British troops, for example, ...
