Without pods, then yes you would have to scatter each unit, potentially leaving them a long way apart . . .

Why not allow the formation to pay for pods??

Unsure what the problem is here. If you read the notes against the Drop Pod, they are the same as codex marines, and carry a formation, not just a unit. Basically you place and scatter the drop pod and then place each unit of the formation on the marker or within 5cm of another unit in the formation...

So in summary, ⋅ Everyone, on this and the earlier thread , thinks that Variable Armour is a good idea. ⋅ This approach would be tidier than using Invulnerable Save. ⋅ IS probably ought to be reserved for characters and ‘special’ instances. However, ⋅ IS does ...

Well NONE of the lists would be change without tests. This is 100% limited to the rule text and nomenclature of the RA ability. All existing units/lists would remain the same until an AC decided to trial and modify and test and then submit to the ERC. So it's kinda a bagatelle to claim this would a...

So far, a moderately positive response from all. Surprising. Dave, how easy would it be to edit the current NetEA lists to change all entries for “RA” to read “RA (x)”, where “x” is the current armour value? - So Land Raiders and Terminators would now have notes that read RA(4) Steve(s), same questi...

Unfortunately, the effort involved in agreeing the values and then implementing them across numerous army lists together with the attendent discussions over ‘changing’ rules and the desire to retain known stats etc. makes this great idea highly unlikely at best. The values stay as they would be wit...

I have long campaigned for “variable RA” to no avail. This would allow far better distinctions between different units as well as graduating their armour values better. For example; If it is felt that Terminators should not be as tough as Land Raiders, this could be achieved; Eldar tanks could be gi...

As others say, all ‘Characters’ replace one figure on a single base or unit (or occasionally get added to a single vehicle eg commissars). As such, they enhance the capabilities of the unit with their own abilities. This principle applies to all races and armies. In the case of the Tau crisis format...

The intention behind ‘Standard’ hit allocation is to spread hits evenly, and this also applies where they occur in conjunction with a barrage weapon; the barrage weapon is fired and each unit under the template is checked separately to see if it is hit, then the other weapons are fired and hits all...

And this is where our experience, and years of queries debated on the forum with Neal Hunt comes in. Neal was part of the team that helped create and test the rules, and (with Dave McCleod and Greg Lane) who formed the original ERC. Neal answered rules questions up to ~2012 when Dave took over. The ...

Irrespective of the way split for is achieved, this will inevitably require some form of book-keeping. I have use magnets to build some of my titans to allow bits to be shot away, recording lost shields and then lost DC. I think it may be possible to adapt this to work here to minimise written notes...

Not quite. As Kyrt said above, Standard hit allocation starts from front to back, placing a hit on the next unit without a hit . If Sniper hits are allocated first to the front units, they merely displace ‘Standard’ hits to the next eligible unit. It is the choice of the firing player when and where...

I suggested working on a ‘bottom’ up basis for IG, Eldar (and Tau?), so initial damage does not degrade the firepower of a titan, which only happens when the DC drops to the value of all weapons. And as it gets down to the last DC, the titan still has one weapon working, justifying the appropriate F...

I have sympathy with both sides of this argument. The ‘rewrite’ should not alter the sense of the original rules, but I also understand the desire to add ‘suggestions’ to cover those gaps in the original rules without FAQ or other guidelines. As a compromise, could these suggestions be placed in a l...

IMO The description of the portable portal definitely should be removed to the special rules page for clarity. Kyrt’s comments notwithstanding, I think people should test and comment on multiple deployment and use of the portable portal. (Don’t forget that it is removed each turn). I would also sugg...
